Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah slot REVIEW

Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah ReviewImmortal Romance Mega Moolah hasn’t succeeded in dethroning either of the original games it’s based upon, at least not so far, but we certainly don’t mind having a progressive jackpot option also when it comes to Thunderstruck II. Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah is basically the original game connected to the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot network, which seems like a powerful combination to say the least.

The gameplay is pretty much the same as the original, and the Mega Moolah visual elements have been altered to fit the Norse mythology theme and color scheme. Of course, there are math model changes, and most notably the lower 92.01 % RTP. The volatility has been bumped down a notch as well though, to a more forgiving medium. You still get up to all reels wild at random times, as well as 4 different unlockable Norse god bonus rounds.

Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah Features

The premium symbols, consisting of a viking longship, Asgard, Valkyrie, Loki, Odin and Thor, pay between 8.33 and 16.67 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The game logo Wild steps in for all pay symbols to help complete wins, and it pays 33.33x your stake for 5 on a payline. All wins involving the wild symbol are subject to an x2 multiplier.

The Wild Storm feature triggers at random times in the base game, and you will then see Thor striking the grid with lightning bolts. This converts 1 to 5 reels into full wild reels, and a full screen of wilds cracks the 8,000x potential there and then.

The Great Hall of Spins Bonus Round triggers when you land 3+ Thor’s Hammer scatters anywhere in view. Landing 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters in view awards a scatter payout of 1x, 2x, 20x or 200x your stake, respectively. Only the Valkyrie feature is available by default, and you need to trigger the bonus round 5, 10 and 15 times before you get access to all 4 features. Here’s an overview of what to expect:

Valkyrie (available from the start) - gives you 10 free spins with an x5 multiplier, and you can retrigger to get +10 extra spins.

Loki (available after 5 triggers) - awards 15 free spins, and wild magic symbols on reel 3 converts random symbols into wilds. You can win up to +4 extra spins by landing up to 5 scatters on the same spin.

Odin (available after 10 triggers) - comes with 20 free spins, and Odin’s raven symbols trigger the Wild Raven feature. This turns symbols into x2 and/or x3 multiplier wilds, or x6 multiplier wilds if 2 ravens appear.

Thor (available after 15 triggers) - gives you 25 free spins, and you get the Rolling Reels feature on every win. This removes winning symbols to make room for new wins, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning. The multiplier increases by +1 per rolling win, up to x5 at the most.

The Mega Moolah progressive jackpot feature triggers at random times, and you’re then guaranteed to win 1 of 4 jackpots from the bonus wheel. All 4 are progressive network jackpots, and they come with the following seed values:

Mega Jackpot starts at €/£1,000,000.

Major Jackpot starts at €/£10,000.

Minor Jackpot starts at €/£100.

Mini Jackpot starts at €/£10.

The Mega Jackpot drops around every 8 weeks on average, with an average value of £5,980,040. The largest Mega Moolah win to date made a lucky player £20,057,734 richer, and the smallest recorded Mega Jackpot win clocked in at £1,013,791.

Review Summary

With Immortal Romance Mega Moolah, Microgaming made the mistake of simply bolting on the necessary elements from their cozy safari-themed original, grafting it onto the dark, mysterious vampire theme like nobody would notice. The mix was incongruent to say the least, and they seem to have learned their lesson since the problem has been amended in Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah (they have since upgraded Immortal Romance Mega Moolah also, just to be fair).

The 92.01 % RTP is, of course, a lot lower than the 96.65 % you get in the original Thunderstruck 2, but that’s to be expected with a Mega Moolah installment. To conclude, Thunderstruck fans can now enjoy the original game enhanced with potentially life-changing jackpots, and that’s an opportunity a lot of players will probably appreciate. Time will tell if it’s able to dethrone the original, but we have a feeling that’s not gonna be an easy task.

If you love Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah you should also try:

Immortal Romance Mega Moolah - also comes with a feature that turns up to all 5 reels wild, and wild wins are boosted by x2 also in this game. You also get 4 unique and character-driven bonus rounds. The RTP is lower than in the original release, of course, and you can win up to 12,000x outside of the progressive jackpots.

Thunderstruck Wild Lightning - is a Stormcraft Gaming follow-up in the Thunderstruck franchise, and the big attraction is the Link&Win bonus round which comes with jackpots up to 15,000x your stake. You get 5 unlockable bonus rounds as well, and once in a while you get a 1-spin shot at winning 8,000x your stake by collecting scatter pairs.

Thunderstruck II - is the iconic follow-up to Microgaming’s legendary original, and it’s one of most successful slots of all time. You get the same Norse mythology theme, as well as the same features, but the 96.65 % RTP is a lot more forgiving than in the game at hand. There are no progressive jackpots of course, but you can still win up to a respectable 8,000x your stake.
